Controversial singer, Portable, granted N2 million bail after pleading not guilty, court adjourns until March 5

An Ogun State Magistrates’’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Thursday, granted a N2 million bail to controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.
The artiste, in hiding before being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted, was arraigned after he turned himself in on Wednesday, to the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department. .
The singer was later transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, to face a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault and restriction of government officials, being armed with cutlasses and guns, as well as conduct likely to cause harm.
He however pleaded not guilty to the charges, prompting his counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, to seek for his bail, claiming that the singer had learnt his lessons and now remorseful.
Magistrate O. L. Oke therefore granted the singer a N2 million bail with one surety in like sum, before adjourning the case to March 5 for trial.
Portable had led his associates to attack officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) carrying out a lawful enforcement at his Odogwu Bar, in the Sango Ota area of the state on February 5, 2025.
Three of the nine town planning officials, Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero, while attempting to seal his bar for lacking approved permits and insufficient air space, were inflicted with injuries during the attack but later escaped.
The singer’s nine associates also arraigned for similar charges include: Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26).
