Colombia 2024: Abuja fans optimistic Falconets will beat Germany

Some football fans in Abuja have expressed optimism that Nigeria’s women’s under-20 national football team, the Falconets, will beat Germany in their second group D match at the 2024 FIFA Under-20 women’s World Cup in Bogota, Colombia.
The Falconets in Group D, alongside Venezuela and South Korea, will take on three-time champions Germany on Wednesday at 11:00 p.m.
They defeated South Korea 1-0 in their first match on Monday at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota, Colombia.
Oluchi Nwachukwu, who praised the Nigerian girls for their performance against South Korea, said there was still room for improvement.
She said that a loss or draw in the game would be dangerous, adding that the girls just have to remain mentally and physically fit for the encounter.
“The team must have rested by now to be strong enough to face the Germans, who are known for their physical attributes,” she said.
Oluwaseun Agunbiade, a fan, also advised the Falconets to remain focused and consistent as they prepare for the game.
“I expect nothing more than a victory from the Falcons in the match,” he said.
Fatima Mohammed, who was optimistic of victory, said that the Nigerian girls would not disappoint Nigerians considering their opening game with South Korea.
“I started watching the girls since 2014, and this team has nothing to worry about; they are tactically composed.
Chris Esa advised the Falconets to work together and believe in themselves in order to achieve their goal of lifting the trophy.
“No obstacle or challenge should discourage them from pursuing their dreams. With determination, hard work, and teamwork, they can overcome any hurdle and reach the top.
“Remember, success is not just about winning but also about the journey, learning, and growth. So, let’s support the Falconets,” he said.
Nigeria are grouped with Germany, Venezuela, and the South Republic in the tournament, which started on August 31 and will end on September 22 in Colombia.
