Coalition picks N100 million APC nomination form for AfDB president

A coalition of interest groups on Saturday picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for the president of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Akinwumi Adesina.
Led by One Nigeria Group, the coalition of 28 groups consisting of Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, people with disabilities and other civil society groups, were reported to have raised the N100 million fee to purchase the forms for the former minister of agriculture.
The payment acknowledgement slip with the Head of the One Nigeria Group, Mohammed Saleh, who led others to obtain the form, was said to have carried Mr Adesina’s name as the recipient of the forms.
Although Mr Adesina is yet to formally indicate his interest in the race, a body of Nigerians in the diaspora, Diaspora Support Group of North America and Europe, has before now been mobilising support for him to join the race.
There are indications that Mr Adesina, who met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja last week, might soon be joining the presidential race.
