CNN political commentator Alice Stewart is dead

Alice Stewart, a formidable voice on CNN political commentary since 2016, has passed on after presumably enduring a medical emergency whose details were not made public.
CNN announced the news of the demise of Ms Stewart, who still appeared on “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer” last Friday.
The outlet revealed police officers found her corpse in Northern Virginia early Saturday. Ms Stewart’s body was found outdoors from what was believed to be a medical emergency.
CNN’s chief executive, Mike Thompson, described her as “a political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage” in an internal memo.
Ms Stewart, 58, has used her political knowledge to devise winning strategies for Republican candidates like Mike Huckabee, who won Arkansas governorship polls in 2008 and served as his campaign communications director.
She has also worked for other Republicans like Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Ted Cruz.
However, she did not support Donald Trump’s presidential ambition, stating in a 2023 CNN opinion piece that “this is a campaign about self-preservation, not selfless public service. I’m not convinced that’s how you Make America Great Again.”
