China continues perfect start at 2024 WTT Contender Lagos after opening day

Having dominated the morning session of day one at the ongoing WTT Contender Lagos 2024, which started on Wednesday, China continued its dominance in the afternoon session of the day.
Just like in the morning session, Chinese players won every game they participated in, including the men’s singles qualifying round two, the mixed doubles qualifying round two and the men’s doubles qualifying round two events.
Men’s singles qualifying round two
China’s Fei Junhang defeated Kim Woojin of South Korea 3-1, Ukrainian Yaroslav Zhmudenko lost 3-1 to Luo Jiecheng of China, another Chinese player Ning Xiankun dominated Egypt’s Mahmoud Helmy with a 3-0 scoreline.
Ghana’s Antwi Francis was defeated 3-0 by China’s Kang Youde, Nigeria’s Mustapha Mustapha defeated Ghana’s Israel Aklie 3-1, all-Ghanaian tie between Samuel Akayade and Michael Yeboah ended in 3-1 victory for the latter.
David Fayele (Nigeria) lost 3-1 to Abdulrahaman Abdullahi (Nigeria), and Germany’s Steffen Mengel thrashed Nigeria’s Matthew Natus 3-0.
Women’s singles qualifying round one
Cecilia Akpan (Nigeria) defeated Abosede Akinsete (Nigeria) 3-1, Halima Hussain (Nigeria) thrashed Abosede Odusanya 3-0 while Mojisola Abike (Nigeria) defeated Kehinde Akinyinka (Nigeria) 3-0 to advance to the qualifying round two.
Men’s doubles qualifying round two
The Nigerian duo of Ashimiyu Ganiyu and Natus Matthew lost 3-2 to another Nigerian duo of Abdulfatai Abdulbasit and Fabunmi Mathew, Chinese duo Kang Youde and Ning Xiankun thrashed Ghanaian duo of Marfo James and Quarcoo Ernest 3-0
Chinese duo of Fei Junhang and Luo Jiecheng beat Nigerian duo of Ayanwale Jimoh and Oyetayo Sola 3-0 while the team up of Adeoye Hussein and Adeyemi Olamide (both Nigerians) lost 3-0 to the team of Kim Minwoo and Kim Woojin (both South Korean).
Mixed doubles qualifying round two
Nigerian duo of Fagbami Akinwale and Akinyinka Kehinde pip the Egyptian duo of Helmy Mahmoud and Badawy Farida 3-2, an all-Nigerian clash between the team up of Adegoke Muizz/ Ayoola Kabirat and team up of Solanke Azeez and Ojomu Ajoke ended 3-1 in favour of the latter.
The duo of Luo Jiecheng and Xu Huiyao (both Chinese) defeated Oyetayo Sola and Akpan Cecilia 3-0, while the Chinese team-up of Kang Youde and Yao Zixuan thumped the Ghanaian team-up of Aklie Israel and Borteye Joanita 3-0.
Actions continue in the tournament on Thursday, where the prominent names, including the Nigerian duo of Olajide Omotayo and Offiong Edem and the defending champion of the women’s singles, Shin Yubin, will kick off their campaign.
