Capsized Boat: PDP offers condolences to victims’ families

The Peoples Democratic Party in Sokoto has commiserated with the families of the victims who lost their lives in the recent boat accident at Kojiyo River in Goronyo LGA.
The condolence was conveyed in a statement on Tuesday by the party’s spokesman, Hassan Sanyinnawal.
The PDP urged the authorities concerned to intensify rescue operations to account for those still missing and to provide urgent support to the affected families.
Mr Sanyinnawal further stated that the party was committed to collaborating with the relevant agencies to ensure that the victims’ families received the necessary assistance.
The party also called on the government to prioritise safety measures on the waterways to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies, stressing that the incident should serve as a wake-up call to improve the safety of riverine communities.
“To the bereaved families, may the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace, and may their loved ones find solace in the outpouring of love and support from well-meaning Nigerians during this difficult time,” he read.
The party assured the people of the state of its solidarity, sharing in their grief and praying for the safe recovery of those still unaccounted for.
On Sunday, a boat carrying 51 passengers, goods, and motorcycles capsized on the Kojiyo River.
The National Emergency Management Agency on Monday confirmed the rescue of 26 persons, with the search for 25 missing passengers ongoing.
