Cambodia bans imports of vegetables, fruits from Thailand

Cambodia’s immigration chief announced on Tuesday that the country had banned the importation of fruits and vegetables from Thailand.
“We have prohibited the imports of vegetables and fruits from Thailand at all border crossings, starting from this morning,” police chief Sok Veasna said.
Mr Veasna, director-general of the General Department of Immigration, told Xinhua over the phone.
According to him, border tensions between the two countries have mounted recently after soldiers of both countries briefly exchanged gunfire in a disputed border area.
This, he said, resulted in the death of a Cambodian soldier.
