Businessman sentenced to jail for damaging neighbour’s car

An area court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 22-year-old businessman, Ismail Suleiman, to three years’ imprisonment for damaging his neighbour’s car windscreen.
The judge, Suleiman Lawal, sentenced Mr Suleiman after he pleaded guilty.
He, however, gave him an option of a N100,000 fine.
Mr Lawal also ordered the convict to pay compensation of N100,000 to the complainant or spend another year in prison.
Prosecution counsel, Insp Monday Dabit, said the case was reported at the Nasarawa Gwong police station on August 4.
The prosecutor said the convict destroyed the car’s windscreen worth N120,000 without provocation.
Mr Dabit said the offence contravened section 313 of Plateau Penal Code Law.
