Business mogul, Jimoh Ibrahim, wins senatorial seat, defeats ex-Ondo deputy governor

Jimoh Ibrahim, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Ondo South Senatorial seat has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mr Ibrahim, a business mogul, won the poll after scoring 110,665 votes to defeat Agboola Ajayi, the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the National Assembly election contest.
Mr Agboola, a former deputy governor, polled 65,784 votes.
Johnson Fashimilehin, INEC’s Returning Officer, declared Mr Ibrahim the winner of the two-horse race in Okitipupa.
“Having polled the highest number of votes of 110,665 against 65,784, I hereby declare Ibrahim (Jimoh) of the APC winner of the election in Ondo South,” Mr Fashimilehin added.
He explained that Mr Ibrahim was declared the winner having obtained the highest number of votes in Saturday’s election.
In a related development, Niyi Adegbomire, the candidate of APC won the Ondo Central Senatorial District, after securing 103,871 votes to beat PDP’s Ifedayo Adedipe, who got 74,702 votes.
Also in Ondo North Senatorial District, Jide Ipinsagba of APC won with 115,933 votes, while his closest rival, Tokunbo Modupe of the PDP lost after polling 48,842 ballots.
