Buhari’s burial slated for Tuesday afternoon in Daura

Mr Radda stated that the burial decision was taken after a wide consultation with families and other concerned personalities in London, United Kingdom.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has announced Tuesday,
July 15, 2025, for the burial of late former President Muhammad Buhari at his hometown, Daura.

The governor confirmed this in Katsina on Monday while addressing journalists at the government house, regarding the burial arrangement.

Aged 82, Mr Buhari died on Sunday at a London clinic where he was receiving treatment, having initially travelled for routine medical check-up in April.

He served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, after a distinguished career in the military, including a brief stint as Head of State from 1983 to 1985.

He was survived by his wife, Aisha Buhari, and eight children.

The Katsina State governor explained that the burial decision was taken after a wide consultation with families and other concerned personalities in London, United Kingdom. 

He said the body of the former president is expected to arrive Katsina on Tuesday at noon, while the burial will take place around 2 p.m.

Mr Radda prayed to Almighty Allah to reward the former president with Aljanna Firdaus.
