Buhari visits Jigawa, donates N10 million to victims of tanker explosion

Former President Muhammadu Buhari visited Jigawa on Tuesday to commiserate with the people and victims of the Majia tanker explosion, which claimed many lives.
In a short speech during the visit, Mr Buhari expressed dismay over the tragic incident and prayed for solace to the bereaved families.
While praying to God to prevent future occurrences, the ex-president also prayed for those who lost their lives.
Responding, Governor Umar Namadi appreciated the ex-president for visiting and showing concern for the state’s people.
Mr Namadi, represented by his deputy, Aminu Gumel, assured that the state government was working hard to prevent similar happenings in the future.
The governor announced that Mr Buhari had donated N10 million to the explosion victims.
Mr Namadi pledged that the donation would be judiciously utilised for the benefit of the victims.
The ex-president and his entourage had visited Reshid Shekoni Hospital, Dutse, and sympathised with the survivors.
The former president was accompanied during the visit by the former Ministers of Aviation, Hadi Sirika and Communication and Digital Economy, Ali Pantami, among other dignitaries.
Majia town in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa had witnessed a devastating tanker explosion a few weeks ago, which claimed over 100 lives.
Some survivors are still receiving medical attention at various hospitals across Kano, Jigawa and Yobe states.
