Buhari, Osinbajo failed to deliver on ‘change’ promise: Laolu Akande

Laolu Akande, spokesperson for former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, says ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime failed to deliver on its change promise.
Mr Akande, who now anchors a show, “Inside Source”, aired on Channels TV, disclosed this on his show on Thursday.
“In 2014/2015, there was a huge groundswell in this country which was denominated by the change mantra,” Mr Akande said.
“You could see that there was a groundswell of opinion in direction of change. Nigerians expected change. Now, I don’t think that change has happened. That’s a long story.”
Messrs Buhari and Osinbajo both rode to power on “change” mantra, promising to tackle corruption, insecurity and pursuing economic prosperity for Nigerians.
Criticisms from Mr Akande, a member of the regime that lasted eight years from 2015-2023, come less than a year after Mr Buhari and his former principal, Mr Osinbajo left office.
Last year, Mr Akande admitted that former Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, championed huge corruption under the regime.
Mr Akande, as spokesperson for Mr Osinbajo then, pushed for his principal to succeed Mr Buhari. But Mr Osinbajo was defeated during the All Progressives Congress primaries.
