Buhari confers GCFR on Tinubu, Shettima gets GCON

President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on President-elect Bola Tinubu ahead of the May 29 inauguration ceremony.
The honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) was conferred on Vice-President-elect Kashim Shettima in a colourful investiture ceremony at the State House conference centre, Abuja, on Thursday.
Despite the controversies surrounding their election, awarding the honours is in keeping with the transitional process of transferring power to the nation’s new leaders after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pronounced them duly elected.
