BUA Cement donates cows, 200 bags of rice to host communities in Sokoto

The BUA Cement company has presented 12 cows and 200 bags of rice worth N70 million to 1,700 households in five host communities in Sokoto for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
BUA managing director Yusuf Binji led the presentation of the items to traditional rulers from the communities on Wednesday in Sokoto.
Mr Binji said the measure was in line with the company’s corporate social responsibilities to host communities.
He said the gesture was intended for less privileged persons to celebrate alongside others.
Mr Binji said that monitoring teams were constituted to oversee the distribution exercise.
Earlier, the principal social performance officer, Rabi’u Maska, stated that the five benefiting communities were Wamakko, Gumbi, Arkilla, Kalambaina, and Wajekke.
Mr Maska said the company plans to expand the gesture in the coming years to cover more communities.
He explained that the company has, over the years, implemented other measures, such as the annual distribution of bags of cement for the repair of public structures within host communities.
Responding on behalf of the benefiting communities, Usman Arzika, the special adviser to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on corporate services, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely.
