United States of America’s President-elect Donald Trump has picked Brooke Rollins as secretary of agriculture, completing his cabinet nominations.

The announcement was made on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, where he praised Ms Rollins for her deep ties to agriculture and her leadership within his administration.

In his statement, Mr Trump described the Texan as a “proud graduate of Texas A&M University” with a “practitioner’s experience” in agriculture, underscored by her upbringing in the farming town of Glen Rose, Texas.

He highlighted her contributions to his first term, including roles as director of the Domestic Policy Council and the Office of American Innovation, where she shaped domestic policy.

He wrote, “Brooke’s commitment to support the American farmer, defense of American food self-sufficiency, and the restoration of agriculture-dependent American small towns is second to none.’’

Ms Rollins also led the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) and America First Works (AFW) over the past four years, championing policies which aligned with Mr Trump’s agenda.

Ms Rollins, 51, brings a blend of personal and professional experience to her role.

Raised in Glen Rose, Texas, she grew up steeped in agriculture, participating in 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA), and managing her family’s farm.

This foundation carried over into her career, where she has balanced grassroots involvement with high-level policy work.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in agriculture development and a law degree from the University of Texas, Ms Rollins began her career in public service and non-profit leadership.

She served as general counsel and policy director to Texas Governor Rick Perry before joining Mr Trump’s 2016 economic advisory council.

She was instrumental in promoting rural development and supporting American farmers’ efforts and she is expected to continue as secretary of agriculture.
