Brentford shock Chelsea with impressive win at Stamford Bridge

For the third successive season, Brentford have won at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the Premier League, with the latest victory coming in an impressive 2-0 win during the early kickoff on Saturday.
Chelsea began the game on the front foot and came close to scoring as early as the 10th minute, but Noni Madueke’s shot inside the 18-yard box rattled the crossbar. They dominated the first half but couldn’t convert their possession into a goal.
In the 58th minute, Brentford took the lead when Ethan Pinnock nodded Bryan Mbeumo’s cross into the net. Mbeumo and Roerslev played a one-two pass on the flank before the Cameroonian delivered a cross.
In search of an equaliser, Chelsea applied pressure in the visitors’ half but couldn’t convert several cut crosses into the box. Instead, it was Brentford who scored a second goal in the game.
Mbeumo sealed the win for Brentford with his stoppage-time strike. Goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez had come out to contest a late Chelsea corner kick, but the kick was headed out and picked up by Mbeumo.
The Cameroonian passed the ball to Neal Maupay, with Sanchez chasing them. Maupay returned the ball to Mbeumo, allowing the winger to tap it into an open net as the visitors secured their third successive league win at Stamford Bridge.
The defeat was a major upset in Chelsea’s recent resurgence from last season’s struggles. Chelsea had a four-game unbeaten run before today’s loss, including a win against Brighton and a draw against Arsenal.
Chelsea currently sit 11th in the league table with 12 points from 10 matches.
