Borno govt. offers scholarships to indigent postgraduate students

Borno government has rolled out a postgraduate scholarship programme for indigent students studying science courses.
Beneficiaries must have gained admission to study for Masters or Doctorate degrees in Nigeria, Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and South Africa or in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, or the United Kingdom.
The executive secretary of the Borno state scholarship board, Bala Isa, told newsmen in Maiduguri on Saturday that beneficiaries must be studying in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
“The scholarship programme is in line with the 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation initiative of the state government.
“This initiative is designed to bridge the existing human capacity gap in the state.
“Therefore, candidates with MSc or Ph.D. admission in some selected universities in Africa, Asia, and the United Kingdom are to apply through the Borno State Scholarship Board website,’’ Mr Isa said.
He added that the scholarship board’s website had been opened to receive applications between August 4 and October 30, 2023.
