Bodies of four sit-at-home enforcers recovered after gun duel with police in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has announced the recovery of four bodies of suspected sit-at-home enforcers who were overpowered and fatally shot.
The command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, released a statement on Saturday in Enugu detailing the incident.
Mr Ndukwe said a combined team of tactical police operatives discovered and retrieved the bodies of the male hoodlums in a forest behind G. Ede Filling Station/7-Up at Awkunanaw, Enugu, where they had sought refuge after fleeing.
This development follows a prior report of the operatives successfully dislodging armed criminal elements attempting to enforce the illegal sit-at-home order during the early hours of Friday.
“The operatives intercepted the criminals at One-Day, Awkunanaw, Enugu, as they were snatching an ENTRACO-branded Sharon minivan from its driver at gunpoint.
“They engaged the operatives in a gun duel but escaped with varying degrees of fatal gunshot wounds due to the superior firepower of the police operatives,” Mr Ndukwe explained.
As a result, a manhunt operation was launched, and a thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery of one AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 19 live ammunition of 7.62 calibres, two bottles of petrol bombs, and other incriminating items.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, reassured the state’s residents that the police and other security agencies would continue efforts to maintain maximum security for citizens.
He urged residents to provide continued support to the authorities.
