Benzema wins best men’s player; Putellas, Salah, others honoured at 2022 Globe Soccer Awards

France and Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has been named the Best Men’s Player of the Year at the 2022 Dubai Globe Soccer Awards in the 12th edition of the awards ceremony held at the Madinat Jumeirah Resort in Dubai, UAE.
Benzema pipped Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Manchester City goalpoacher Erling Haaaland to the highly-coveted award.
The 34-year-old has been impressive for both club and country in the past twelves months – he scored 44 goals in 46 games to help Madrid win the La Liga title, Champions League and a UEFA Nations League triumph with the France national team.
Meanwhile, Barcelona Women’s star Alexia Putellas won the Best Women’s Player of the Year Award.
Salah was voted the TikTok Fan’s Player of the Year and Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti scoping the Best Coach of the Year Award.
PSG defender and former Spain international Sergio Ramos was named the Best Defender of All Time, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, Brazilian Romário and Swedish football hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic all honoured with Player Career Awards.
Aston Villa new manager Unai Emery was honoured Coach Career Award, Real Madrid and its president Florentino Pérez being named the Best Men’s Club of the Year and the Best President of the Year respectively.
Jorge Mendes won the Best Agent of the Year award, Olympique Lyonnais Fémini winning the Best Women’s Team of the Year while Benfica won the Best Youth Team of the Year Award.
Peoples Gazette had earlier reported that Victor Osimhen was named the Power House Emerging Player of the Year, piping Barcelona teenage sensation Gavi, Real Madrid star Fede Valverde and 16 others to win inaugural category.
