Benue LG to construct 10,000-capacity beach resort to boost tourism

The Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State said it has concluded plans to construct a 10,000-capacity beach to boost tourism and increase Internally Generated Revenue.
The Buruku Chairman, Raymond Zege, made the disclosure on Saturday at the Mbaape during the birthday celebration of Commissioner for Works and Housing, Tiza Imojime.
Mr Zege said that the council had already allocated 10 hectares of land for the “Buruku Beach Resort” project at the bank of River Buruku.
He said, “The beach is designed to meet international standards to attract tourists to showcase our tourism potential. The council will unveil other details of the project in due course. The beach is being constructed through a public-private partnership with support from Governor Hyacinth Alia. Securing the lives and property of tourists is guaranteed with the launch of the civil protection guards’ security outfit and Operation Anyam Nyor joint task force by the governor.’’
The chairman assured that the council under his watch would witness unprecedented development and urged the people to support his administration.
The celebrant, Mr Imojime, said he decided to celebrate his birthday with the people as appreciation for their support.
Mr Imojime said he was overwhelmed by their show of love and support and assured them that the governor was committed to the development of Buruku LGA and the entire state.
The commissioner told the people that state government had constructed several urban and rural roads, among other infrastructural projects.
He stated, “More infrastructural developments are on the way as more contracts have either been awarded or will be awarded. The people should continue supporting the governor as he is committed to their welfare through prompt payment of workers’ salaries, arrears, gratuity, and other incentives.’’
The All Progressive Congress Chairman in Buruku, Terver Achagh, said that the party was waxing stronger and ready for upcoming elections.
The District Head of Mbaape District, Mpev Upav, said the traditional institution in the council would continue to support the state government to succeed.
The event featured performances from notable artistes in the state.
