Bayelsa’s EDTF inaugurates water projects in schools

The Bayelsa Education Development Trust Fund inaugurated portable water projects for three schools in the Zarama and Agbere communities on Friday.
The 9,000-litre capacity water projects are located at Community Secondary School, Zarama, Yenagoa LGA, and Community Primary Schools 1 and 2 in Agbere, Sagbama LGA.
Gentle Emela, the education commissioner, stated that the projects form part of the government’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene policy.
He stated that the WASH programme’s provision of potable water is vital to addressing waterborne diseases in Bayelsa schools and communities.
Mr Emelah commended the EDTF and appreciated Governor Douye Diri for sustaining the Fund.
Mathew Odou, leader of the EDTF team, expressed satisfaction with EDTF’s role in enhancing education development. He said EDTF prioritizes potable water to improve public health.
School heads in Zarama and Agbere thanked Mr Diri, EDTF, and partners for the new water projects.
They assured cooperation with the community to maintain and secure the facilities.
Reid Aladei, traditional ruler of Agbere, appreciated the relief the project brings to his community. He pledged to ensure the projects are protected.
Mr Aladei thanked Mr Diri and EDTF for providing potable water in schools.
SPID representatives Weni Kokinobo-Igirigi and Weigha Prince stated that local leaders and youths supported the project delivery.
