Bauchi set for National Sports Festival in Ogun: Deputy Governor

The Bauchi State Government on Saturday, said the state it is ready for the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) scheduled for Abeokuta, Ogun State from May 16 to 30, 2025.
The state Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, stated this when officials of the State Sports Council and National Sports Commission paid him a courtesy visit on Saturday in Bauchi.
Mr Jatau said that Governor Bala Mohammed had approved the state’s participation and ensured that all necessary arrangements were in place for a successful outing.
He said, “We are optimistic of the state’s chances of winning medals , owing to its rich history in sporting excellence. Bauchi has been part of the National Sports Festival since 1976, and has comparative strength in athletics, football, hockey, boxing, basketball among other sports. The state has consistently won medals in previous editions of the festival as we remain committed to sports and youth development.:
He also commended the NSC and the festival’s organising committee for promoting unity and peace through sports.
Team Leader of the festival’s Torch of Unity, Mbora Ikana, informed the deputy governor of the event’s dates and schedules.
“We commend the governor for his continued support for sports as the commission will assist in promoting the sector in the state,” she said.
