Bauchi police arrest two suspects for alleged sexual assault

The Bauchi State police command has arrested two suspects in connection with alleged criminal intimidation and sexual assault of minors reported in Lanzai District, Darazo.
A statement on Saturday by Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesman, said the suspects were arrested on Friday at about 4:00 p.m. after a resident reported that his three daughters, all minors, were allegedly lured into an uncompleted building and sexually assaulted.
He noted that the complainant further stated that the victims were threatened to prevent them from reporting the incident, and that officers immediately swung into action.
“Consequently, two suspects identified as Abubakar Muhammad Jatau, 20 years old, and Umar, 18 years old, both male and of the same address, were arrested and are currently in custody,” Mr Habib said.
According to him, the victims were promptly taken to General Hospital Darazo for medical examination and necessary care.
“Additionally, operatives visited the scene of the incident and documented relevant evidence to aid further investigation,” he noted.
Mr Habib said the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi for discreet and thorough investigation, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
