Bank of Industry donates food items to Sokoto government

The Bank of Industry (BOI) has donated 2,400 cartons of food items to the Sokoto state government to help alleviate the hardship faced by the citizens.
Gov. Ahmed Aliyu, who received the food items, in Sokoto on Wednesday, expressed gratitude to BOI for the gesture.
Mr Aliyu noted that the contribution would significantly complement the efforts of both the federal and state governments in ensuring food security for citizens.
“BOI has shown true patriotism and love for humanity with this donation, I commend them for this invaluable support,” he said.
The governor urged other private organisations and corporate bodies operating in the state to borrow a leave from BOI, observing that their host community stands to benefit greatly from such contributions.
He also reaffirmed the state government’s willingness to collaborate with BOI on initiatives that would boost trade and commerce for the benefit of both the state and the bank.
Mr Aliyu also praised President Bola Tinubu’s approach to mitigating the hardship faced by Nigerians, while expressing optimism that the situation would soon improve.
Sokoto state commissioner for commerce, Haruna Abbas, explained that the donation aligned with the state government’s palliative initiatives.
He commended BOI for its foresight in supporting the less privileged.
Earlier Habiba Sambawa, the zonal manager of BOI, emphasised that the donation was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibilities to its host communities.
She said the contribution aimed to complement the government’s efforts in providing food to the populace, “especially during these challenging economic times.”
