Bandits: Police ask Christians to pray for peace in Zamfara

The police command in Zamfara has felicitated the Christian community on Christmas and New Year celebrations, asking them to pray for peace in Nigeria.
The police also urged Christians in Zamfara to use the period to pray for stability for the state.
Police commissioner Kolo Yusuf made the call in a statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesman Muhammad Shehu.
Mr Yusuf urged Christians to use the period to offer special prayers for sustainable peace, stability and development in Zamfara and Nigeria.
According to him, security measures are in place to protect lives and properties during and after the Christmas and New year celebrations.
“Massive deployment of the police personnel and other security agencies to all Churches, recreational centres and other vulnerable places have been made to ensure peaceful celebrations in the state,” said the statement.
It added, “The CP personally embarked on a confidence-building patrol of major highways In the state, especially from Gusau-Mafara-Sokoto road. The patrol is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of commuters and other road users.”
The commissioner charged the command’s area, tactical commanders, and divisional officers to adopt the same strategy.
