Bandits open fire in Kaduna; kill 9, abduct many

Unknown gunmen have killed nine people and abducted an unspecified number of persons in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State.
The assailants stormed Sabon Layi town on Wednesday morning, shooting sporadically, a Birnin Gwari resident told BBC Hausa.
The resident told the outlet that the gunmen had been seen the previous day moving freely around the community but nobody knew their mission until they struck at about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to the resident, nine people were killed, four of whom are members of the vigilante group members. No fewer than twenty five people were also abducted alongside a large number of cattle and sheep.
The Kaduna State government said Air Force jets had already been dispatched to survey the area in collaboration with other security operatives who are in pursuit of the bandits.
