Bandits bombed Abuja-Kaduna train with RPG, grenades: Senator Sani Uba

Senator Sani Uba has explained the tactics employed by bandits in the bombing of the Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday evening, that left many passengers severely wounded and others dead.
According to Mr Uba, “Grenades and RPGs were used” by the bandits, resulting in the train to derail, after which the terrorists opened fire on over 900 passengers that were riding the train.
The lawmaker was mute on how the bandits acquired sophisticated weapons with which they unleashed terror on innocent citizens.
Mr Uba (APC Kaduna central), on Tuesday at the national assembly, called for urgent security measures to counter the bandits who have become brazen in their attacks.
Citing the Saturday attack on the Kaduna airport where an airport staff was shot dead while others scurried to safety, and the Monday train attack, the senator raised alarm over the increasing brazenness of the bandits.
He noted that the bandits’ possession of RPGs and grenades showed they had carefully planned the bombing and sourced for resources to execute the attack.
Mr Uba said the designation of bandits as terrorists had yet to yield any results as their activities continue to cripple the economy and instill fear into the populace.
The senator urged security agencies to “reassess their strategies and come up with workable and effective solutions to the menace of terrorists in Kaduna state.”
