NiDCOM on August 7 claimed the UK High Commissioner Richard Montgomery had said 430,000 visa applications by Nigerians had been successful.
No fewer than eight protesters were arrested and taken to the state police headquarters in Akure.
“Let me state categorically that this is yet another case of misrepresentation of facts,” said the Oyo governor.
The suspects were arrested during a joint operation with the men of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigeria Army in the state.
The Ondo State APC described the PDP allegation as baseless and malicious.
“Our party views this posture of Mr Governor as not only insensitive but equally wicked,” the party said.
The second victim was a northerner who was allegedly lured to a hideout between Ikare and Arigidi.
In 2019, applicants were asked to pay N5,000 for an application form.
