The European Commission has called on India and Pakistan to show restraint and de-escalation over attacks and counter attacks from both countries.

The European Commission foreign affairs spokesman Anouar El Anouni said on Wednesday in a briefing.

According to El Anouni, we urge both sides to show restraint and take immediate steps towards de-escalation. The EU recalls the need for a negotiated mutually agreed and lasting peaceful solution to the conflict.

El Anouni said, “And this will be discussed with the EU foreign ministers in the context of the Gymnich meeting.”

In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian Defense Ministry announced the launch of Operation Sindoor, targeting “terrorist infrastructure’’ in Pakistan.

It later said that 70 terrorists were eliminated and stressed that no Pakistani military facilities were attacked.

However, Pakistan’s military reported that 26 people were killed and 46 others injured because of the Indian strikes.

Pakistani media reported that the country’s air force shot down five Indian fighter jets.
