Atiku, Mark, other coalition members selfish; hijacked ADC without due process: Ex-presidential candidate

A former presidential candidate under the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has condemned the appointment of David Mark as the party’s interim chairman, accusing Atiku Abubakar and other coalition members of selfishness.
In a statement on Wednesday, Mr Kachikwu slammed what he described as the takeover of the national leadership of the opposition party, saying coalition members did not follow due process.
“The Atiku-led group are in some form of alliance with the former leadership of the party led by Ralph Nwosu. The tenure of the Nwosu-led executive lapsed on August 21, 2022,” the ex-presidential candidate said, criticizing the group’s strategy as ill-informed.
“They are a bunch of greedy and selfish old men who believe that political power is their birthright. Nigerians are tired of your generation and reject everything you have to offer. Can you build something on nothing? Can you shave a man’s hair in his absence? Can you enter a man’s house through the back door and declare yourself the landlord?,” the politician added.
Mr Kachikwu further dismissed the coalition members’ claim to fight for ordinary Nigerians, accusing them of shaping the country’s trajectory wrongly.
He said, “We have nothing to show for their decades of leadership other than being seen as a nation divided by tribe and religion and thriving in mediocrity.”
Earlier, pioneer and founder of ADC Ralph Nwosu said the party’s old leadership had resigned to allow coalition members take charge of the party and lead it to victory in 2027.
Saying Nigeria was in a critical condition, Mr Nwosu charged the new party’s leaders to take it to global reckoning.
“Nigeria has been in ICU. Lives are being lost every day. My appeal to the emerging political leaders is to take Nigeria from the ICU to global reckoning because we can,” the politician said.
