Assembly hold Katsina Local Government Law over ward heads allowance

The deputy speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Shehu-Dalhatu Tafoki, says the bill to enact the State Local Government Law 2022 stalled at the plenary.
Mr Tafoki said this while addressing journalists on Sunday in Katsina.
He said the bill, which scaled the third reading, was an executive submission to repeal the State Local Government Law Cap.178 of 2000.
According to him, the assembly has directed the House Legal Services Department to resubmit the bill on January 31 for further legislative deliberation.
The deputy speaker said that some members, during the plenary, observed that the bill needed to take care of the allowances of ward heads, earlier agreed by the house.
“Therefore, we urged the house to suspend deliberations on the bill to enable us to study it critically,” the deputy speaker said.
