Afenifere Leader, Sehinde Arogbofa and Olubaka of Okaland, Oba Yusuf Adeleye, on Saturday commended Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style in Ondo State.

Mr Aiyedatiwa is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 16 governorship election.

The governor was in Akoko South-West Local Government Area to canvas votes as part of his tour of the 18 local council areas of the state.

Speaking at the Palace of Olubaka, Mr Arogbofa urged the governor to emulate the values of the late first Executive Governor of Ondo State, Adekunle Ajasin and make the state great again.

The Afenifere leader used the opportunity to declare his support for Mr Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy to continue as the governor of the state.

He said, “The Afenifere stands firmly behind your mandate. You have shown promise and leadership, and we are confident in your ability to lead Ondo State to greater heights.’’

Also speaking, Mr Adeleye, while addressing the people, expressed the support of traditional rulers in the council area for Mr Aiyedatiwa.

He said, “The council of Obas has decided. Governor Aiyedatiwa is our candidate. On behalf of all traditional rulers here, we stand together in support of your election, assured by your commitment to our communities. Since 1999, we have been advocating five per cent local government funds to traditional institutions in the state. Many promised, but it was Governor Aiyedatiwa who made it a reality. This step alone speaks volumes about your dedication to our welfare.’’

Mr Adeleye further expressed gratitude to the governor for appointing sons and daughters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area into key positions in his administration.

“We are deeply appreciative of the opportunities you have provided for our people, a testament to your regard for our council area,” he added.

In his response, Aiyedatiwa appreciated the overwhelming support from the traditional rulers and Afenifere leaders.

He pledged to uphold the trust reposed in his administration to serve with greater commitment.

He stated, “My vision for Ondo State aligns closely with the aspirations of our people, and I am dedicated to building a legacy of growth and unity.’’

Mr Aiyedatiwa assured the gathering of his commitment to championing the welfare of traditional institutions and communities across the state.

He added, “Our heritage and traditions are the backbone of our identity. I am fully committed to preserving them and ensuring they are woven into the progress we aspire to bring to every part of this great state.’’
