Army, customs pledge stronger border security

He stressed that sustained collaboration between both agencies would aid anti-smuggling efforts.

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Maj.-Gen. Farouk Mijinyawa, has pledged to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service to boost border security operations.

Mr Mijinyawa gave the assurance on Friday in a statement issued by the Division’s spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya.

He stressed that sustained collaboration between both agencies would aid anti-smuggling efforts and foster a safer environment conducive to economic development.

Similarly, the Comptroller of Customs, Federal Operations Unit Zone “A”, Comptroller Muhammad Shuaibu, appreciated the Division’s continued support and cooperation.

Mr Shuaibu noted that the division’s officers have played a vital role in strengthening the effectiveness of customs enforcement activities.
