Army commander celebrates barracks children, stresses importance of education

The commander 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Olusola Diya, has urged barracks children to prioritise education as a pathway to success.
Mr Diya gave the advice during an end-of-the-year party for children at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks, Ohafia, Abia.
The commander enjoined them to take their studies seriously to benefit from the many opportunities provided by education.
He said that he decided to celebrate the children to make them happy and imbibe positive thinking in themselves as future leaders.
The commander said that it was a season of celebration, hence the need to bring the children in the barracks together, no matter the status of their parents, to celebrate as one.
He assured that every child would have a place to celebrate as long as he is at the helm of affairs in the brigade.
Highlights of the celebration included contests such as spelling and egg races, dressing in native and English attire, as well as crowning of the prince and princess of the brigade.
