Army chief inaugurates residence of peace-keeping centre, RSM’s residence

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, on Friday inaugurated the residence of the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peace Keeping Centre in Jaji, Kaduna State.
The COAS also inaugurated a state-of-the-art car park; remodelled photo stand and a hostel link road at the MLAILPKC.
Mr Lagbaja, represented by the Chief of Training Army, Maj.- Gen. Sani Muhammad, said the RSM’s residence was built with the aim of providing him with a befitting accommodation.
He added that the new accommodations were part of his welfare package designed to enable the RSMs to discharge their duties effectively.
Mr Lagbaja emphasised that RSMs remained the custodians of regimentation in the Nigerian Army who play vital role in providing leadership direction and instilling the right values and discipline among personnel.
He equally said inaugurating the official quarters was part of his welfare agenda in recognition of the office of RSMs in the Nigerian Army and also to boost their morale to serve the force better.
The COAS added that the quarters which the army was building for RSMs in service was part of his command philosophy which is, “to transform the Nigerian army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving its constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.”
Earlier, the Commandant of the MLAILPKC, Maj.-Gen. Ademola Adedoja, said that the inauguration of the projects represented landmark initiatives that underscored their unwavering commitment to positioning the centre of excellence as a leading hub for training of peacekeepers.
He said that the centre also trained other operational level officers/civilians to face the multidimensional challenges in contemporary peacekeeping
operations.
Mr Adedoja stated that the projects symbolised his vision for a well-equipped centre with state of the art facilities driven by research and innovation.
He equally said it aligned with the command philosophy of the COAS.
The commandant explained that the COAS’s command philosophy hinged on three pillars including sound administration, operational effectiveness and leadership.
He, therefore, said the inaugurated projects were towards ensuring a sound administration in the Nigerian Army.
He thanked the Chief of the COAS for his continuous support to the centre, stating that it was instrumental in the milestone the centre has achieved so far.
Mr Adedoja also solicited the COAS continued support to enhance the centre’s capacity to deliver more realistic training to prospective peacekeepers to enable them to perform effectively when deployed.
The four-bedroom bungalow with cutting-edge amenities has a spacious living room, kitchen, dining area, 15 KVA generator, solar power energy, and industrial borehole.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the keys of the house to the RSM by the COAS.
