The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Julius Abure as the Chairman of the Labour Party.

The Justice Hamman Barka-led three-member panel of the court delivered the judgement on Wednesday, in an appeal filed by Mr Abure challenging the decision of the verdict of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

Justice Barka held that Abure’s appeal had merit and was accordingly allowed, adding that the high court shouldn’t have even assumed jurisdiction on the matter.

The appellate court therefore set aside the verdict by Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court who last year restrained Mr Abure and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party over alleged forgery of national documents.

The judge held that, “The judgement of the lower court is hereby set aside” and awarded a N1 million fine in favour of Abure and against the respondent, Lamidi Apapa.
