Appeal Court frees Sowore from city detention

Presidential aspirant and convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has had restriction of his freedom lifted by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
“BREAKING: Court of Appeal in Abuja saying my restriction to Abuja is excessive and now lifted!” Mr Sowore tweeted on his verified handle on Wednesday.
Mr Sowore’s movement had been restricted to the Federal Capital Territory as part of the stringent bail conditions granted to him by Justice Ojukwu of the Federal High court in 2019 after more than ninety days in unjust detention.
The bail conditions were in 2021 appealed in a suit marked CA/A/778/21, by the activist’s lead counsel, Femi Falana.
The ruling of the appeal court will now give Mr Sowore, who is running on the platform of African Action Congress, the much-required freedom for his campaign for the country’s top job.
