APC Primaries: Ex-Kebbi Gov. Aliero calls for peace

Adamu Aliero (APC-Kebbi Central) has called on party members and other Nigerians to continue to maintain peace, be law-abiding and remain calm as political parties conduct their primaries nationwide.
He made the appeal on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, while reassuring supporters that he remains a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr Aliero, a two-time Kebbi governor, spoke through the leader of his APC faction in the state, Sani Dododo, at a news conference on current issues affecting the party.
He said the call became imperative in view of the fact that negotiation had been going on for several months to keep the party a united entity.
“We are here to inform you of our decision, that is Senator Muhammadu Adamu Aliero-led faction in APC in Kebbi state, we had an extensive deliberation, after a very long silence, many people are asking questions where are we? What are we doing?” stated Mr Aliero.
He added, “So, I would like to use this opportunity to state it categorically clear to all our supporters across the state that discussion at the national headquarters of our party had been going on for the last eight months and we have done everything humanly possible as elders and leaders to ensure that fairness and justice prevail.”
While assuring that the Senate leader Yahaya Abdullahi had purchased APC form to participate in the gubernatorial primary in the state, Mr Aliero confirmed that Mr Abdullahi had been cleared by the national screening committee.
