APC beats PDP minority leader Segun Adekoya in Ijebu federal constituency

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Adegbesan Joseph, has defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Segun Adekoya for the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside federal constituency seat.
In the final result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Mr Adegbesan Joseph of the APC gathered a total of 35,798 votes to emerge winner.
Meanwhile, Mr Adekoya, who is the current minority leader of the Nigeria House of Representatives, and the PDP candidate in the election, received 25,450 votes, which is over 10,000 votes less than that of his opponent.
Feyisola Olusegun Michael of the Labour Party (LP) came third in the election with 1,999 votes while Odunsanya Gbenga of the African Democratic Congress(ADC) finished fourth with 1178 votes.
Mr Segun Adekoya, who has been representing the Ijebu federal constituency at the National Assembly since 2015, will vacate the seat for his APC successor when the swearing ceremony takes place in June.
