Another oil pipeline explodes in Rivers

Another explosion was reported on Tuesday at a pipeline manifold on the Omwawriwa axis of the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This was barely a few hours after an explosion was reported at the Trans Niger Pipeline domiciled in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It was learnt that the explosion reportedly occurred at a manifold linked to a federal pipeline that carries crude oil to Brass in Bayelsa State.
The state commissioner of police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and the command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, did not respond to calls and messages seeking comments on the incident.
These incidents came amid a deepening political feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and lawmakers loyal to former governor and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Meanwhile, Peoples Gazette exclusively reported that President Bola Tinubu had concluded plans to declare a state of emergency in Rivers.
The president’s plan was concluded overnight, and the action is due for announcement at any moment.
Mr Tinubu had also identified a retired military chief, Ekwe Ibas, to take charge in the state, which is considered at the heart of Nigeria’s oil industry.
