Another activist joins climate hunger strike in Germany

A third man on Tuesday joined a week-long hunger strike near the German chancellor’s office in central Berlin to pressure the government into being more honest about the global warming crisis.
The third man, Michael Winter, is a biologist from Garching, near Munich, in the south of the country, according to a statement by the ‘Starve until You are Honest’ campaign.
Mr Winter joined the open-ended hunger strike in the Camp for Climate Action in the government district.
According to the campaign, Wolfgang Metzeler-Kick, a 49-year-old engineer, has not eaten since March 7, 40 days ago.
Also, Richard Cluse has been without food for over three weeks.
The campaign is demanding that Chancellor Olaf Scholz shows more honesty in the “climate catastrophe.’’
It also calls for a radical change in policy from the Social Democrat (SPD) – the chancellor’s coalition government.
The hunger strikers are demanding that Mr Scholz issue a government statement stating that continued existence of human civilisation is extremely endangered by the climate crisis.
According to the campaign, hunger strikers can survive without food for up to 70 days.
