Anambra Guber: I’m not afraid of incumbency factor, says Moghalu

The Labour Party (LP) candidate for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, George Moghalu, says he is not afraid of the incumbency factor.
“People with incumbency power had been defeated before and many times over, So what is the big deal? It is about the people,” Mr Moghalu said in an interview with journalists on Sunday in Abuja.
The aspirant maintained that the election outcome would be determined by the people and the will of God.
“It is about the people and the will of God concerning each and every one of us. One person at any given time will be the governor of the state,’’ he said.
The immediate past managing director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), who expressed confidence that LP had a high chance of winning the governorship race, said he was ready and prepared for the election.
“I am fully prepared. I have not been more prepared than now,’’ Mr Moghalu said.
On how he could win the governorship ticket, considering the short time within which he joined the Labour Party, Mr Moghalu attributed it to the will of God and the wishes of the state’s people.
“It looks like this is my time, and God’s will came to prevail. I also want to thank the delegates for having confidence in me and placing their future in my hands for guidance,’’ he said.
Asked if he would have won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket if he had remained in the party, Mr Moghalu said, “I would have still contested, but I am not God who sees tomorrow.’’
He commended the leadership of the Labour Party, the delegates and the people of Anambra for entrusting him with the mandate to run for the governorship election, pledging that he would not disappoint them.
