Alleged Naira Abuse: EFCC releases E-Money on bail

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released Nigerian socialite and businessman Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, on bail following his arrest over alleged naira abuse.
E-Money was taken into custody by the EFCC on Tuesday, April 28, after being arrested late Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos.
He was then moved to the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.
The socialite was said to have allegedly sprayed naira at a public event, including United States dollars, thereby also violating Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act.
After regaining his freedom, E-Money shared a calm update via his Instagram handle.
The businessman was seen at home with a gospel track playing softly in the background.
“No tension, everywhere good. I see all your love and support. God bless you all,” he wrote.
Likewise, fellow socialite Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest, also took to Instagram to celebrate E-Money’s release.
He wrote, “My brother don fall out. To God be the glory.”
The anti-graft agency has been cracking down hard on individuals accused of abusing the Nigerian currency.
Just days ago, singer and rapper Terry Apala was remanded in custody over alleged Naira abuse.
He joins a growing list of entertainers and public figures facing similar charges.
