The national grid has suffered another setback, plunging the country into another blackout, the second time in 48 hours.

This was confirmed on X by @NationalGridNg, a platform that provides updates on power distribution in Nigeria on Thursday.

“Another grid setback experienced,” the tweet reads.

This was also confirmed in a statement by the Jos Electricity Distribution.

Its communications head, Friday Adakole Elijah, said the current power outage is traceable to the fresh collapse of the national grid.

“The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred this morning at about 1128 hours of today… hence the loss of power on all our feeders,” the statement reads in part.

This marks the second time the grip has suffered a setback in November, the eleventh time this year. It recorded four failures in October.

The development has resulted in mixed reactions from Nigerians, as many have called for the sack of the power minister, Adebayo Adelabu.
