African U-19 Volleyball: Cameroon defeat Nigeria in opening game

Nigeria began its campaign in the ongoing 2022 U19 Girls African Volleyball Championship with a slow start after a 3-1 defeat by Cameroonian on Friday evening.
The Nigeria U-19 girls who enjoyed home support, were impressive in the first set of the encounter, winning 29-27, but the Cameroonians came back stronger winning all of the second, third, and fourth sets 20-25, 14-25, and 20-25 respectively.
At the blow of the full-time whistle, Cameroon walked away with a 3-1 victory in the match that took place at the Package B Indoor Hall of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF) last month confirmed the appointment of Boskovic Aleksander as the new Technical Adviser of the federation.
The appointment of the 45-year-old Serbian, who is the former assistant coach of the Serbian national volleyball team, is expected to improve the county’s performance in volleyball in both local and international tournaments.
Aleksander also had stints with various volleyball clubs in Europe, and is expected to use his expertise to develop various levels of the Nigeria national team setup.
“Serbia’s Boskovic Aleksandar is the new Technical Adviser of Nigeria Volleyball Federation.
“He will help Nigeria in the area of technical and tactical development/approaches in the various National Teams (Senior and Junior),” the tweet announcing Aleksandar read.
