Afe Babalola: “It is never an easy journey fighting evil,” Dele Farotimi speaks after release from detention

After meeting his bail conditions and being released from detention, human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi, detained for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola, said he knows that fighting evil will not be an easy journey.
Mr Farotimi was released on Tuesday after meeting his bail conditions.
“It will never be an easy journey when you are fighting evil,” Mr Farotimi said in a video after his release. “But some years back, God told me that ‘truth is enough.'”
Appreciating Nigerians who spoke out and condemned his violent arrest by the Nigerian police based on a petition by Mr Babalola, Mr Farotimi said he has never lied against anyone and that truth is his weapon.
“Only truth. It is the weapon by which you can slay the monster called Nigeria. In my fight and advocacy against this evil empire we are living in, I’ve never lied against anyone,” Mr Farotimi said.
Since his arrest on December 3, Mr Farotimi has spent about 20 days in detention. Within 24 hours of his arrest, an Ekiti magistrate court remanded him over a defamation petition filed by Mr Babalola.
