‘Adulterous’ housewife seeks divorce after 24 years of ‘loveless’ marriage

A housewife, Khadijat Mustapha, approached Uthe Kubwa Upper Area Court in Abuja, seeking the dissolution of her marriage to Mahmuda Adamu after 24 years due to lack of love and affection.
Ms Mustapha told the court that she married Mr Adamu, according to Islamic laws in 2000, blessed with five children.
She said her husband called her an adulteress, threatened her life and always beat her at the slight provocation.
“My husband does not pray as a Muslim should, and there is no more love between us; I want the court to dissolve the marriage,” she said.
The respondent however said he was still in love with his wife and needed time to settle with her.
The judge, Mohammed Wakili, adjourned the matter until May 6 for the couple to settle their differences and report to the court.
