Adeleke assures Osun federal institutions of continued support

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday said the state government will continue to support federal government institutions in the state.
Mr Adeleke gave the assurance when members of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, led by its Chairman, Prof. Taiwo Olaiya, paid him a courtesy visit in Osogbo.
The governor said that the state government and the polytechnic’s host community in Ede had been contributing to the growth of the institution.
He reaffirmed the state government’s continued support to the institution.
He said, “It was the positive agitation of the people of the community that led to the establishment of the institution. And since its establishment, the people of the community have been contributing to the growth and the development of the polytechnic. We will continue to support the polytechnic and other federal institutions in the state.’’
The governor, however, urged the management of the polytechnic to embrace local content in the state execution of projects in the institution.
He said that when local people were used in executing projects, they would have a sense of belonging and the resources would also revolve within the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Mr Olaiya said that the visit was for members of the council to meet the governor and solicit for his continuous support for the institution.
He said, “We want to appeal to the governor to do something significant in the institution which we will remember you for. Just the way your family has been contributing to the growth of the institution, we need you to put a structure in the school which will be named after you.’’
