Activists say 100 Syrian refugees killed in Lebanon
No less than 100 Syrian refugees have been killed since the beginning of the massive Israeli bombings in Lebanon, including 23 women and 32 children.
The human rights activists said this on Thursday.
Syrian refugees fleeing the horrors of war in their own country are now facing death at the hands of violent Israeli attacks, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The refugees were caught between hard choices: staying in Lebanon under Israeli fire or returning to areas controlled by the Syrian government, where they face arrest and abduction.
An estimated 1.5 million Syrian refugees live in Lebanon.
Due to the rising cost of living, many of them are now homeless.
As a result of the new attacks, even more of them are now sleeping in parks or on the streets.
Some people living in eastern Lebanon also entered Syria in recent days, where, almost 15 years after the start of the civil war, there are still no opportunities for a safe return.
According to UN figures, the Israeli attacks have displaced around 200,000 people in Lebanon since October 2023.
