Abuja dispatch rider docked for allegedly swindling employer of N102,980

A dispatch rider, Sani Emmanuel, on Tuesday, appeared before an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja for allegedly swindling his employer of N102,980.
The police charged the defendant with criminal breach of trust, and criminal misappropriation.
The prosecution counsel, Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that sometime in August, the defendant was employed as a dispatch rider with Dera Executive services, old CBN Garki, Abuja and entrusted with a Qlink motorcycle with registration number MSC 464 CT for the company’s dispatch services.
The prosecutor said that on October 12, the defendant absconded with the proceeds of the dispatch services worth N102,980.
During an investigation the police said that the motorcycle was recovered from him.
According to Mr Osho the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 312, and 309 of the Penal Code. However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Judge Hassan Mohammed granted the defendant N200,000 bail, with one surety in like sum.
The judge further said the surety must have a verified address, and reside within the court’s jurisdiction. He adjourned the case until December 13 for further hearing.
